Sita Cooray was born in Sri-Lanka, migrated to New Zealand in 1970 and moved to Australia in 1977.

Having won several Art Prizes and Awards for her works Sita has been exhibiting since 1990.

While living at Orange, NSW her studies included:

• 1984-1989: Art Certificate Course, Orange TAFE
  Graduated in Drawing, Painting & Printmaking
• 1994-1997: Life Drawing & Painting under late David Wilson at Charles Stuart University, Bathurst
• 1997: Life Drawing - Drawing from Life, Orange TAFE
• 1998: Diploma in Painting, Orange TAFE

Her work is unique and is a reflection of her personality and her great love of painting. Sita loves to travel through the contrasting landscapes of the world and the vast and arid landscape of Australia, including the iridescent opal fields, and the beautiful Central Coast where Sita now lives surrounded by pools of water everywhere.
